Isabelle's Sorrow, Poem

Isabelle's Sorrow
By H. A. Handy

mangled, marred and murderous,
Isabelle sought a husband and mate,
but no one was good enough
in dear ol' daddy's eyes
so each met a sorrowful fate

as time went by
Isabelle grew
people betrayed her trust
and trusting betrayed her
so life grew old and slew

how sad a life Isabelle lived
knowing nothing but perfection
seeing none of it or love
moving from one age to the next
knowing life did not match its reflection
